We had a dream… a dream of an English language school, where all classes are taught in English from kindergarten onwards, for our orphaned and fatherless children of Prashanti School residential children's home. As impossible as this dream initially seemed, it actually came to fruition! An amazing opportunity presented itself to us. A property adjacent to our playground was generously offered to us at less than half the appraised value. After renovating the existing buildings and developing the property, the new Prashanti International School was inaugurated on July 22, 2010, with classes for lower and upper kindergarten and first grade students! The PIS campus consists of 1-1/2 acres with four buildings – three for classrooms and one for the school office. One of these buildings also serves as a boy's hostel for our Prashanti School graduates now attending college. We are currently building a playground and further developing and enriching the curriculum. As the first PIS children grow, a new class level will be added each year.

The main focus of Prashanti International School is to provide the best education possible for our children. In addition, children from the local community are able to attend this school, since there is no other English language school in the area. The school fees from these outside students help us to meet expenses for teacher salaries and for the day to day upkeep of the school.

Over the years it has been our experience that when these young children are given a loving environment and an opportunity for an education, they just blossom beyond our highest expectations. The students, as well as WFF board members, recognize how important English is for their futures. These children have no family support, and their future ability to support themselves and their families will depend on their having a solid foundation in the English language. English is a basic requirement for good jobs in India. Previously, our students were attending the local Oriya language government schools, where the teaching of English is very sub-standard. The excellent instruction at Prashanti International School, with all classes taught in English, helps give them the skills they need to thrive and become productive and happy members of their society.
